Wellness Teas FAQ - get to know our TCM brews!

For centuries, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has used herbal teas as a gentle and natural way to support overall wellness. From soothing digestion to restoring balance in the body, different tea ingredients are believed to nourish specific systems and promote harmony between mind and body. But with so many herbal blends and wellness claims out there, it can be hard to know which teas are right for you. In this Q&A, we answer some common questions about TCM wellness teas, how they work, and how you can incorporate them into your daily routine for a more balanced lifestyle.

Which tea is suitable for women during menstruation?

It can be tricky to answer this question simply, as everyone experiences their periods differently.

However, if the concern is cramps or general discomfort, the rose ginseng oolong and the yuzu ginger schisandra may be good options. The former is often associated with supporting circulation, while the latter provides warmth, and this combination may help soothe some of the discomfort.

Can I get sick from “over-drinking” these teas?

No, you cannot as the ingredients chosen are rather neutral and suitable for most people. However, you can definitely consume too much caffeine, so please be mindful of your tolerance.

Safe to enjoy during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding?

Dr. Ip recommends only the caffeine-free blends: Osmanthus Hawthorn Pear and Yuzu Ginger Schisandra.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Which tea is recommended for perimenopausal women

Although none of these blends are tailored specifically to perimenopausal symptoms, rose ginseng oolong can offer mild support for brain fog, fatigue, irritability, and emotional instability (just make sure you aren't sensitive to caffeine).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can i eat the herbs?

Although these are natural herbs that are safe to consume, some of them may not be as enjoyable (taste-wise).

However, we strongly recommend eating the Pear in the Osmanthus Hawthorn Pear and the Longan in the Bamboo Lily Longan Jasmine blends after the 3rd Brew. They are yummy with great benefits!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How many servings in a pack?

7 single servings per pack. Note that each serving is meant to be re-steeped for at least 2 times after first brew as the herbs gently release their full flavour & wellness throughout the brewing cycles.

That means you are getting 21-28 cups per pack!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can i enjoy these teas iced?

TCM practice always advises against the consumption iced drinks. However, you can still enjoy these drinks iced, especially if you do not have any struggle with poor digestion and run warm. Just please don’t drink iced drinks right before your period!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can i add sweetener to these teas?

Absolutely, for added depth of flavour without impacting wellness benefits, here is our sweetner pairing recommendation:

  • Yuzu Ginger - Yuzu Citron
  • Bamboo Lily - Honey
  • Rose Ginseng - Jujube Syrup / brown sugar
  • Pear - Apricot / Pear jam

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are these the same blends from our initial tcm collection?

No, they are different. The previous TCM blends were released in lieu of the pandemic, with a focus on immunity & respiratory health.

This botnatical collection is more wide-ranging, designed for every day wellness and the alleviation of common minor ailments.
