Coconut Oolong with Hojicha Foam

Coconut Oolong with Hojicha Foam

Oolong Tea Cold Brew in Coconut Water with Hojicha Cold Foam (16oz)

Serves: 1
Time: 5 active minutes (plus 8-12 hours cold brew time)

Recipe Notes:

Cold brewing is one of the easiest and most versatile methods of brewing tea. This recipe utilizes coconut water to balance out the intense roastiness of the oolong and hojicha, but feel free to substitute with regular water if you prefer!

Ingredients

For the cold brew:

  • 14g oolong tea leaves
  • 200ml coconut water
  • ice

For the hojicha cold foam:

  • 1 tsp hojicha powder (about 2g)
  • 20ml hot water (80-85ºC)
  • 100ml cold heavy cream or barista milk (or half & half for lighter texture)
  • 10ml simple syrup (or to taste)

Instructions

Cold brew the tea:

  1. In a jar or pitcher, combine the oolong tea leaves with coconut water (add a splash of cold water if you prefer a lighter taste).
  2. Cover and let steep in the fridge for 8–12 hours.
  3. Strain before serving.

Make the hojicha cold foam:

4. In a small bowl, whisk the hojicha with 60ml hot water until smooth and frothy.
5. In a separate cup, combine the cream (or barista milk) with 10ml simple syrup.
6. Froth or whisk until slightly thickened and pourable — like cold foam.
7. Gently whisk the hojicha mixture into the cream until evenly combined.

Assemble:

 8. Fill a 16oz glass with ice.
9. Pour in your oolong coconut water brew.
10. Spoon the hojicha foam on top.
11. (Optional) Dust with a pinch of hojicha powder or sea salt for a light, roasted finish.
