Matcha Pricing Updates
Share
As the global matcha shortage continues into late 2025, tea brands are facing rising costs and limited supply. We want to be transparent about what’s happening in the industry, how it affects pricing, and what we’re doing to stay true to the quality you love.
We’re going to give it to you straight, matcha is getting more expensive everywhere. The specific type of green tea that’s stone-milled into matcha, called tencha, has increased in price by 200–300% in the last year. While many brands have done their best to absorb these rising costs, the price of most matcha powders has still surged anywhere from 40% to well over 100% in just the past few months.
So where do we stand?
We’ve been incredibly fortunate that our relationship with our tea farmers is rooted in nearly a decade of trust and friendship. As they’ve watched Paragon grow, they’ve continued to believe in what we do, and have worked tirelessly to maintain our matcha supply and fulfill our existing orders. At this point in the shortage, many companies are lucky to get any matcha at all, so for our farmers to secure such a large ceremonial-grade order for us feels nothing short of miraculous.
Since we opened in 2019, we’ve only raised our matcha prices twice, even as production costs have climbed across the industry. Thanks to our growing community of matcha lovers, we’ve been able to place larger orders and slightly ease our per-unit costs, but despite every effort, we can no longer fully offset all the increases in production, from harvesting tencha leaves and milling to packaging and transportation.
To continue offering the same quality and care you know and love, we’ll be making a small price adjustment of 10-20% to our Ceremonial Matcha. As a thank you for your continued support, this change will take effect on October 24, so there’s still time to stock up at our current pricing.
